Chronicling the life of Clayton and Spenser, with memories of Scooter
November 13, 2008
Phillip installed this gate last year with the sole purpose of leaf disposal. Otherwise you have
to drag the tarp to the other side of the yard, out that gate, and over to the hill. This is a lot
easier. As with Clayton and doggy beds, Spenser has never met an open gate that he doesn't like.
Fortunately he no longers busts out when given the opportunity and that's a good thing because
take a look at what's on the other side:
A bit of a precipice, wouldn't you say? That is the Delaware and Raritan Canal. You can't see our road, but it's at the bottom of the hill. The first year that we lived here (1998) Spenser escaped and chased a deer ACROSS the canal. I kid you not, people on the canal path reported seeing him, and since the nearest bridge is just about a mile away, most likely he swam across right where he's looking now. I don't think he's ever been swimming since. Learned HIS lesson!
