Chronicling the life of Clayton and Spenser, with memories of Scooter

May 26, 2008

We are thinking of replacing the concrete around the corner from here with brick, making one large patio that wraps around the house. The air conditioning unit is in the way of this plan so last Friday we had someone from the A/C and heating service company to give us an estimate on moving it. The first order of business was to pry these savage beagles away from their quarry with the promise of a jerky strip. Once he was no longer pinned, he peered in, looked around, jiggled the cover, petted the boys who were back from their snack, and announced "$1000." We raised our eyebrows. "But I can't guarantee that the unit's going to work after I move it. It has a lot of rust." We furrowed our brows. "How much for a new one?" I asked. "A new one will run you about $3000." So there you have it, and if we ever decide what to do I'll let you know.

P.S. If you missed last Friday's DD you didn't read the good news - Clayton's lump is BENIGN! Benign! Benign! BeNIGN!
