Chronicling the life of Clayton and Spenser, with memories of Scooter

March 27, 2007

Courtney and Mike emailed me last night from the rainy Caribbean. They like to check on their girls via the DD so here you go guys! I'm really sorry about your weather. Feel free to stay longer, the girls are doing fine.

It's not easy to get a photo of Tootsie and Buttercup together like this. For Tootsie especially, the absence of motion is an uncommon state, although as I write this she is asleep on the very top of the sofa (too cute).

I was afraid that Buttercup's presence here would remind me of Scooter and it does, but not painfully. But boy, memories can be evoked from the smallest thing. Last night while taking pictures I had a stationary Buttercup framed in the viewfinder and was waiting for her to do something interesting. A noise from the side caught her attention and she turned her head to look. There was something about the position of the top of her ear which took my breath away it reminded me so much of Scooter.

It was not always easy to tell Scooter and Buttercup apart, especially if they were moving. Their collars were often the best clue, though their faces were quite different and Scooter had more white. And of course there was the boy/girl thing. Here are the two of them from May 2002. You be the judge.
