Chronicling the life of Clayton, Spenser and Scooter

March 13, 2007

Scooter hasn't eaten since early Saturday, the day after he started a new course of chemotherapy. That doesn't count the Pill Pockets which hold his Prednisone, Reglan and Doxycycline. If you have to give pills, you should try these Pill Pockets. They hide the pills and (apparently) taste great. Buy the large though, not the small. The small only holds very small pills. In any case, we are having to force this down Scooter's throat since he won't take anything to eat. Phillip brought him to the vet today with Spenser and the vet said that he believed Scooter's lack of appetite is due to the chemotherapy and not his cancer. We sure hope so. Both Sunday and Monday when we started to get Clayton and Spenser ready for a trip to the woods, Scooter got right out of bed and joined us. He didn't run, didn't even sniff too much, but he took a nice walk. This is reassuring and tells me that he is not giving up. Hopefully he will regain his appetite soon. I'm not sure what we'll do if he doesn't. Oh, and if you're wondering what's with the rectangular shaved area on both Scooter and Spenser, it was where they had a Fentenyl pain patch. Scooter had one when he was in for the alleged pancreatitis and Spenser had it after his surgery. It delivers pain medication for several days and has to be on shaved skin to be effective.
