Clayton, Spenser, Scooter and Sherman: then and now.

June 23, 2009

Last night, Phillip and Sherman went out for a special kind of walk together. Clayton stayed home with me. Sherman is proving to be quite a good boy off leash, but of course he wears a tracking collar.

This is our neighbor's pond. Just like ours, it gets covered in algae as soon as it's warm enough for all those little eukaryotes to start dividing and it stops looking like a pond. So Clayton and I were cutting up watermelon when Sherman burst through the doggy door and ran into the kitchen. He was soaking wet. But not muddy, so I figured that Phillip had hosed him off without my noticing. Not quite.

"I was walking down Mark's driveway and took my eyes off of Sherman for a moment. Then I heard a kerplunk and thought, that can't be good!" Up popped Sherman from under the algae and he started a furious dog paddle to the shore. Phillip was ready to jump in and rescue him but there was no need. Let the adventures begin!
