Clayton, Spenser, Scooter and Sherman: then and now.

June 8, 2009

Introducing, Sherman Kramer! We adopted him from the SOS Beagle Rescue on Saturday. Sherman is from Tennesse, where he was given up by a family couldn't afford to care for him. Since Linda of SOS lived in Tennesse for several years, she's still involved in rescue there and pulled little Sherman from the pound. He's three years old and is VERY sweet. He loves tummy rubs and gently jumps up our legs for attention (a habit we're not quite sure we'll promote). He is extremly sedate, has not shown a lot of interest in the yard, although he did enjoy a trek to the woods (and will probably be able to be an off-leash beagle). We have yet to hear him bark! Actually, Phillip thinks that he might be somewhat hard of hearing, as he doesn't respond much to sounds. But you know, he's been through quite a lot over the past couple of weeks, it's still probably all a blur, so we will be patient and wait for his personality to blossom. I will say again, he's SO sweet. And cute as a button. He's 13" and 22 pounds, which we're not used to! Unfortunately he has to wear the Spenser collar for a few more days until his neutering wound is completely healed. And I've been explaining to him that he's going to see the camera a lot, and that he should smile and say jerky strip. Clayton regards him as another houseguest, not paying much attention except when there's food around. But when Tuie arrived last night for her two week summer vacation, Sherman tried to get her to play. Tuie and Scooter used to play and it would be delightful to see that tradition continued.

Thanks everyone for telling me not to feel guilty. I truly don't. What a gem.
