Chronicling the life of Clayton and Spenser, with memories of Scooter

June 11, 2007

Several of you emailed me after reading the May 29 story about Spenser's terrible fear of thunder to recommend "Rescue Remedy." It's a liquid combination of five different flower essences and is sold as a remedy for stress or trauma, for people as well as animals. I bought it on Sunday at the local health food store but you can get it online as well. I wasn't going to tell Phillip about it. Phillip is...how should I put it...not entirely accepting of alternative medicines. Okay, to be truthful, unless it's been in a double-blind, placebo-controlled, multi-center study, it "doesn't work." So why is he not making a fuss? Because, and here you have to imagine a Yiddish accent, it "can't hoit!" I'll be sure to let you know how Spenser handles the next thunderstorm with a few drops of Rescue Remedy onboard.
