Chronicling the life of Clayton and Spenser, with memories of Scooter

June 4, 2007

Phillip went to a reunion in Virginia this past weekend. He took the train down on Friday morning and came home late Saturday night. I drove down to Trenton (the capital of our fair state) to pick him up and brought the boys with me. Clayton is always eager to get in the car and while he often sits next to the window trying to look and sniff at the world going by, after about fifteen minutes of this he settles down for a nice nap. Spenser on the other hand sits at attention and stares straight ahead, planning perhaps his route on the off chance I turn over the steering wheel to him. On Saturday night he was all riled up and whined just about the entire forty minutes it took to get to the train station. He had been missing Phillip, sitting next to the sliding glass door in the living room, looking out, waiting for his daddy. When we got to the train station I had to hold on to his collar while Phillip put his suitcase in the way-back of my car. He was one excited beagle. Clayton woke up and joined in the howling fest. People stared and smiled. Isn't it fun to travel with beagles? They make any occasion festive!
