Chronicling the life of Clayton and Spenser, with memories of Scooter

July 9, 2008

I spent most of yesterday worrying about the boys. Spenser has become more and more finicky about his food, and yesterday morning he wouldn't even bother to sniff it. Then when I put down Clayton's bowl, Clayton looked at it for awhile before gingerly tasting it. I don't think that Clayton has turned down food more than five times in his life. Suddenly I felt that I was going to lose them both. I know that sounds a little, what, excessive? But I couldn't help it. Phillip fed them supper and while Clayton ate his whole meal Spenser only ate half. So this morning I opened a different brand of dog food that I had bought and gave Spenser about 3/4 of the can with no dry food (ordinarily they get half and half). Spenser was a dog possessed, eating as fast as he could and licking the bowl clean. Meanwhile in his corner, Clayton paced Spenser bite for bite. Today I will breathe easier!
