Chronicling the life of Clayton and Spenser, with memories of Scooter

July 23, 2007

We had company last night for dinner which meant extra dishwashing duty for the boys. By the time we got around to dessert both Clayton and Spenser were sacked out and hence did not notice that the plates of my famous apricot almond tart that we had placed so carelessly on the coffee table. Scooter would have finished those off in about ten seconds and then plunged into Bob's cup of coffee. Spenser did manage to wake up and have a few sips of Nancy's water, though. Anyway, I decided that I wanted to make shrimp for dinner last night so I went to my favorite recipe site and typed in "grilled shrimp." And then spent a good half hour weighing the pros and cons of Marinated Grilled Shrimp versus Grilled Marinated Shrimp. Quite a dilemma, huh? Because the other dish I was making, a very tasty Orzo with Tomatoes, Feta and Green Onions, also called for fresh basil, I went with the first one and never looked back. It was fabulous: everyone, guests and beagles alike gobbled up every last piece of shrimp.
