Clayton, Spenser, Scooter, Sherman and Stanley: then and now.
January 4, 2010
Notice Clayton's back legs? He has been standing like that for several months now, and over
the weekend it got much worse to the point that he was having considerable trouble walking.
We feared the worst, naturally, a tumor on his spine or something equally bad. Phillip
contacted our neurologist vet friend, Rick, who kindly saw Clayton on Sunday morning. It is
a myopathy from Prednisone-induced Cushings Disease. Clayton has been on a low dose of
Prednisone for a couple of years because it's the only thing that has treated his cough.
We're to decrease the dose and we have an appointment on Friday for a cardiology consult.
His walking is slightly improved, and he's able to go out the doggy door and into the yard
by himself. Clayton's a wimp, so we know that he's not in any pain because we haven't heard
a single yelp and just yesterday he was rolling around on the rug. I don't know if we dodged
another bullet or not, but we're hugging our little guy closer.
