Chronicling the life of Clayton and Spenser, with memories of Scooter
February 27, 2008
I recently bought a new brand of treats which are especially, how shall I say, fragrant.
Our routine these days when I take the boys out is to get them all saddled
up, grab my camera if it's not too dark, and put a few treats in my jacket pocket. We then go out to the woods and
I walk all the way to the back. Spenser keeps busy surveying but Clayton is only interested in
what's in my pocket and so he follows me with surprising alacrity. At the midpoint of our
walk (thus insuring he gets a decent amount of exercise) I slip him a treat as a reward. Spenser is generally immune to my machinations but once he
got a whiff of these new deer-poop-and-rotting-carcass treats (ok, just kidding, but they really do have a strong odor)
he followed me for
the rest of our walk as well. And that explains their nice pose here: Clayton is practically shaking
knowing another treat is on its way, while Spenser busily pretends not to care.
