Chronicling the life of Clayton and Spenser, with memories of Scooter.
April 23, 2009
I am very sad to report that Matisse passed away yesterday.
If you are new to the DD, Matisse was the very beloved toy poodle of my
cousin Marcy, who lives nearby. He spent a lot of time here and
brightened our lives with his perkiness. Matisse became blind a few years ago
and Marcy kept him home where he knew the layout of the house. More
recently he lost his hearing and his health declined sharply. He was
sixteen years old and had a long life, although their lives really never
are long enough, are they?
I'll never forget the day he refused to let me take off this sweater. He let me put it on without a problem but when I went to take it off he got terribly mad. So he wore the sweater for a few hours until Phillip got home. Phillip picked him up by the back of the sweater and let Matisse sort of fall out. There were no more sweaters after that, which is too bad because he looked so cute in them.
Scooter used to chase Matisse around the yard. I bet there's some big time chasing going on right now in heaven.
