The Daily Digital Photo
Chronicling the life of Clayton and Spenser, with memories of Scooter

April 2, 2008

The funniest April Fool's Day joke I've ever heard was a 1996 story on NPR about Starbuck's plan to build a coffee pipeline from Seattle to Washington, D.C. I still remember listening to it on my way home from work. They even interviewed a U.S. Representative who should have been nominated for an Academy Award for not laughing even once. The next year or the year after I transformed BotW from Beagles on the Web to Bagels on the Web. It was pretty funny and I wish I'd kept a snapshot of the home page. Did anyone notice Google's April Fool's Day mischief yesterday? They were soliciting people to join Virgle, a joint project with Virgin Atlantic to send hundreds of intrepid pioneers to colonize Mars in 2014. I have to tell you, I was not very impressed and thought that with all the creative minds that Google has assimilated, they could have done better. But who am I to criticize when my own efforts yesterday were so remarkably mediocre? In fact I doubt most of you even noticed, so if you didn't, take another look paying close attention to the lower right portion of the photo. I hope to do better next year.
